90% or the Picture Quality of Ring for less than half the price.

I've been a Ring doorbell and camera user for a few years now and while the devices, overall, work well, my biggest frustration is how there's often a delay in opening a video feed or responding to an activity alert. My experience with the amcrest doorbell cam has been significantly better and it may be due to the fact that it offers more flexibility in stream quality. It appears that it will always attempt to load HD but if it's taking too long to load, it will switch to SD to provide the stream as quickly as possible. That is appreciated. I did do a comparison side-by-side of my ring camera vs the amcrest one and noticed a few things. While the Ring camera was more vibrant with a broader color spectrum, it was also softer with smoother details. The amcrest camera was far sharper but with flat and washed out colors. Beyond that, the only noticeable difference I can take note of is the Amcrest cam has a 2-3 degree narrower viewing angle than the Ring. Again, this is a product that costs far less than half of the Ring alternative with more features, so bear that in mind!

Really Nice Doorbell Camera!

So I have always had Ring Doorbell since they first came out. I have been using Amcrest cameras for a really long time so I was excited to try the Amcrest Doorbell. I would say that this $100 door bell is equivalent to Ring Doorbell Pro (valued at +$250). Set up for the Amcrest Doorbell was pretty easy. Instruction were clear. My only issue was that I would of wrote down the doorbell SN before I fully installed. I had to take doorbell off to scan for SN in order to connect to my phone. I have to say the motion sensor is really good. I have not had any false alarms because of tree / bush movements. I’m quite impressed with its performance for the price.I like the color of the button at night time. I wish it had more of a finished look on the doorbell. I feel like the door bell looks not quite as fancy as I would like.I LOvE that I can put a micro SD card in the camera so I don’t have to pay a monthly/yearly fee. So far for 10 days the live view has been really reliable. Overall I would give it a 4.5 out of 5 star review.

Replace your Ring! Get an Amcrest Doorbell!

I had a Ring doorbell before trying this. The Amcrest doorbell is better in almost every way. The big plus in Amcrest's column is that you can make changes to your settings in the app without having to be right at the doorbell. Ring makes you either accept changes by button press at your doorbell or wait 24 hours for changes to take effect. Amcrest immediately pushes the changes whether you're home or away. The other big improvement is setting up motion zones. Ring is set to use zones with very little customizations for your visual area. I have flags and a porch swing that would constantly set off motion detection on the Ring, where Amcrest allows you to draw very specific areas in a grid map. It has drastically reduced false motion alerts due to windy days. My Ring also randomly decided that it no longer wanted to use night vision, so it was useless when it gets dark. The night vision on the Amcrest is fantastic! Better than even when Ring's night vision works. The only thing I miss with the Ring is a wider view from the camera. Amcrest doesn't have as wide of a view, although they have angled mounts to help point the camera in a more focused direction. Also, just a note that I had to get get longer screws than what was supplied during install to install it on the side of my house and I would have liked to see a bigger space on the back of the camera to fit larger screw heads to keep it flush. This was also an issue with the install of the Ring, so no pros or cons to either for the install of this. If you have neither or have a Ring, the Amcrest doorbell is definitely worth picking up.

Finally found my perfect video doorbell

Finally - a video doorbell where I don't have to pay a monthly subscription for my footage! I've been looking for about a year to find a video doorbell where I can locally record footage to MicroSD and/or my home NVR (not to a paid cloud subscription), but it seems these are nearly impossible to find, or the other ones on the market are not good quality. This Amcrest one checks all the boxes.Installation was SUPER easy - I was up and running in about a half hour or so. Amcrest is using a newer Smart Home app for this doorbell than my older Amcrest security cameras use. The new Smart Home app is user friendly enough that anyone can use it, where as the older app had some flaws. I'm hoping that I can eventually migrate my older Amcrest cameras into the new app (it shows that they're unsupported right now - the new app only does their Smart Home product line). Overall usage of the app is great. Easy to configure, alerts for motion or doorbell rings are very fast, and it can be easily shared to family members so all our phones go off when the doorbell rings.Camera quality itself - very good. I was especially pleased with the low light performance (just before the IR clicked on), and also with the IR performance in the dead of night. Our porch does not get much other light, and the IR light of the Amcrest makes the whole porch very visible and very easy to see details like faces that approach the porch at night.Take some time to tweak your motion setup - out of the box I was getting motion alerts from traffic on the street, people walking on the sidewalk, etc. It took a couple evenings of tweaking and now it's perfect and I only get motion alerts when someone is immediately near or on the porch. Here's the best part - MicroSD storage and RTSP streaming! Woohoo. Works flawlessly with my 64GB high endurance MicroSD, and I've also connected it successfully to Blue Iris, Motion Eye and Shinobi NVR applications to test too. This is a 10/10 for me. I've tried (and returned) a number of other video doorbells in the past, and Amcrest takes the cake with this one. I'm finally happy with my video doorbell choice, and it comes in at such an affordable price too!

Exceeded expectation

I have a Nest Hello installed on entrance and been looking for another doorbell camera for my garage. The Amcrest fits the profile, small, easy to use, affordable, local SD card storage capability. I have other Amcrest PoE cameras around the house and they’ve been working great. Being an Amcrest’s user for many years, I decided to give the Amcrest doorbell camera a try when it was released late last year.Installation is relatively easy, just need to connect the camera with a 16-24V transformer/power supply, paying attention to the wiring diagram to include the chime kit. It seems power output is unstable without connecting the chime kit so be aware.Pictures quality is much better than expected. Not as crystal clear as the Nest Hello, but not that far behind either. What I like most about the Amcrest is the ability to detect motion, record the event and store it locally in a 128 GB microSD card. This is huge to me because Nest constantly uploads video to the cloud which consumes lots of internet bandwidth. Plus you would need to pay for the subscription to Nest Aware as well.So far so good I’m thinking buying another Amcrest doorbell camera to replace the Nest.
