Smart Deadbolt - Matte Black

This is a very sturdy and well-made lock. Glad I bought it. Installs as easily as a standard dead-bolt lock. I had some problems getting it to link to my wifi and then to Alexa. Called tech support on each issue and was surprisingly impressed with the young lady who was so very patient with me. The instructions could be better written and more detailed. Highly recommend.

After purchasing a different lock, from a different mfg that starts with a K, I was cautiously optimistic that this one would work out better.Out of the box, there are way less bolts and screws, and the instructions are super easy. I got this unboxed and installed in probably 10 minutes. It integrates seamlessly with Key, and then to my Ring App. I can unlock and lock my door way easier than ever before.I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a Smart Lock that actually works!

Taking apart the existing deadbolt took longer than installing the new one. Setting up the new one to work with WiFi, also, only took a few minutes. Overall, I'm very pleased thus far! I've only had it installed for a little over two weeks so far. The battery life (four AA Duracell batteries included) was at 99% upon installation; dropped to 83% two weeks in. So, I disabled the "auto-lock feature" to save a little battery usage. I give the lock feature 5 stars, ease of installation 5 stars, and didn't rate tech support, since I haven't needed it yet ... and hope I never do. ;)All members of my household simply love it, especially those who jog and don't need to take their keys along with them anymore. Eventually, I bought the door handle that matches, and it was a cinch to install as well. :)

It really isn't hard to install. I thought I'd bypass the step of replacing the deadbolt with the new one. Mistake. The new deadbolt is designed to work with the lock and the old one does not. Because of that it took me longer to install as I had to take it apart and redo it but once I got it all together again with the new parts it is working flawlessly. I'm glad I went ahead and purchased it. I can unlock it from the car before I get out and carry groceries in. I like that I don't have to put down the groceries and fish out the key, especially if the step is wet from rain. This way I just continue on through the door that is already unlocked. I have it set up to work with Alexa though I don't have it set to unlock with voice as someone outside would be able to activate it if they talked loud enough. Being a Schlage I expect it to last for awhile.

15 minutes start to finish. The door part was 10 of it. The WIFI was setup was super fast. You need your cellphone and it must be connected to the same WIFI as the Encode lock. Download the app and follow the instructions. It will download some updated firmware to the device and send your WIFI password from your phone to the lock. Then from there you have the app to see status, lock, unlock, get notifications, etc... It works with Ring as well so you can let someone in if they ring your bell and you know them.Mine has worked flawlessly for a couple months now. Still on original batteries. I picked this model because it has the WIFI built in. I hate having tons of extra boxes still around my modem (cough Phillips Hue). My WIFI in my home is super strong everywhere since I use a mesh network (google wifi). This has never once dropped on my network or failed to connect.My favorite feature is the notifications. My dad lives with us and he sits outside late every night. I can see when he unlocks the door and when he locks (or forgets to lock it). Then if he does forget I can just lock it from my phone. Plus I can't accidentally lock him out because its code based and he can just unlock it if I did. Overall I am glad I picked this up and I love the black century trim. Very modern and goes perfect on my grey door.
